Case History: ISR-1100 (Iron Sulfide Removal)

Customer: Major Independent with subject well located in Washington County Texas

 

Pertinent Well Data:

                Formation: Austin Chalk (Carbonate)                                           Perfs:     Open Hole Laterals

                Tubing: 2-3/8”    Casing: 7”

Other Data:          Bottom Hole Temperature ___˚F

 

Problem:

The well had lost production due to plugs that were formed by iron sulfide and carbonate fines restricting gas production in each of the laterals. MGM Northstar recommended using ISR-1100 Series is an anionic surfactant package that is low in pH and is designed to break iron sulfide down into small particulates, making for easier removal when flowing back.

Production Estimates Prior to Last Work-over:

Gas: 350 MCFD                     Oil: 6 BOPD               Water:  0 BWPD

 

Gas:  950 MCFD                    Oil:  12 BOPD            Water:  0 BWPD

 

Recommendations & Procedure: [testing recommended prior to all jobs]

 

MGM Northstar provided and pumped the following system as outlined below:

 

  1. Treated down the annulus
  2. Flushed with 5 bbls of KCL to clear the lines

 

*Shut-in times of 12 hour.

 

Results:

The well started to make gas and oil.

Summary:

ISR-1100 Series delivers superior water wetting characteristics in both carbonate and sandstone reservoirs. The result is a more efficient stimulation, with residual wetting, that enhances the performance and life of an oil or gas well and its longevity. Volumes may change based on the severity of the damage and desired penetration in and into the formation. It is also suggested that samples be taken when possible as to ensure the most optimum performance and cost effectiveness
